Maintaining Eligibility

Maintaining Eligibility - Once you’re enrolled at UNM, make sure you stay eligible for federal student aid by paying attention to a few things, including keeping on track toward graduation. And remember to fill out your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) every year.

1. Continue to meet Basic Eligibility Requirements
2. Complete your FAFSA each year and be enrolled at least half-time for loan programs
3. Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) - You need to make satisfactory academic progress in order to continue receiving federal student aid. In other words, you have to make good enough grades, and complete enough classes (credits, hours, etc.), to keep moving toward successfully completing your degree or certificate in the time period allowed for your program.
