Your Right to Know

The University of New Mexico is required by law to provide certain consumer information to you as a prospective or continuing student. Much of that information is safety related or financial in nature, but other areas of interest are included as well such as graduation rates, athletics, and the various costs associated with attending the University of New Mexico. Below is the consumer information for the University of New Mexico.

Accreditation, Approval and Licensure of Institution and Programs

 The University of New Mexico has been continuously accredited through the Higher Learning Commission of (HLC) the North Central Association since 1922.  The HLC accreditation covers all of UNM’s campuses and programs.  The institution’s last comprehensive accreditation review occurred in April 2009, resulting in a full 10-year reaffirmation of accreditation.  Additionally, many of UNM’s programs carry specialized accreditations (see list of UNM’s Program Accreditations).

Students who receive any form of financial aid, have certain rights and responsibilities. It is your right to know the processes and policies that encompass Financial Aid, including how to apply, types of aid, costs, terms, eligibility, receiving and repaying loans, receiving your aid, paying UNM and more.   • In Person: You can come in to speak to a Financial Aid Representative or drop off any forms to our Onestop location on main campus. Onestop can be found in Mesa Vista Hall (building #56 on the campus map) on UNM's Main Campus.  Onestop is open Monday-Friday; 8-5pm.
